1What are you sizing?

2How did you measure?

Method
Unit

Flat: lay the garment down and measure from one side seam to the other. We double it for you.

3How should it fit?

Room to move is how much bigger the garment is than the body. These are starting points. Change them to match your own fit.

Measure the garment

Use the measurements you already take for production or your product pages. Flat or all the way around both work.

We work out body sizes

Flat widths are doubled, then the room to move for your fit is taken off. That gives the body measurement each size is made for.

Publish it

Copy the table or download a CSV. Show shoppers the body sizes to choose from, and the garment sizes so they know the fit.

Questions

Why can't I just publish my flat measurements?

You can, but most shoppers compare them with their own body. A shirt that measures 52 cm flat is 104 cm around, and fits someone with a chest of about 94 cm. Shoppers who don't know that pick the wrong size. Showing body sizes next to garment sizes removes the guesswork.

What is room to move?

It's the difference between the garment and the body it's made for, sometimes called ease. A slim shirt has a little, a relaxed hoodie a lot, and a coat worn over other layers even more. Stretch fabric needs less.

Are the room to move numbers exact?

No. They are common starting points. Every brand cuts differently, so try one or two sizes on real people and adjust the numbers until the chart matches how you want it to fit.

Which measurements matter most?

For tops and jackets, chest. For dresses, bust, waist and hip. For trousers and jeans, waist and hip. Length, sleeve and inseam help shoppers too, but they are shown as garment measurements, not used to pick a size.

How do I get this on my Shopify product pages?

Paste the table into your product description, or add it with AI Frame. AI Frame shows a clean Size Chart in cm and inches, and recommends each shopper's size from it next to the size picker.
