Swimwear Size Charts for Shopify Stores
Swimwear is the category where “will it suit me?” and “will it fit me?” are both loud, and only one of them can be answered with a photo right now.
Size Charts: yes. Publish them. Put Size Chart next to Size. Bust, waist, hip in cm. Cup and band if you sell them as separate facts.
Virtual Try-On: no, on AI Frame. We do not render swimwear. That is an image-safety policy on the models we use, not a taste decision. Bikinis, one-pieces, and anything the classifier treats as swimwear will not get a Try On pill. The chart still has to work, because most shoppers never uploaded anyway.

Why swimwear charts fail
They copy a dress grid. Dress grids hide cup vs band. They mix body (the shopper) with garment (the suit laid flat, stretched or not). They use inches only. They live in a lookbook PDF.
A bikini top that fits the band and fails the cup is not “size M.” It is two measurements. If your Shopify options are S/M/L, the chart still needs bust and underbust, or you are guessing with extra steps.
One-pieces need torso length more often than brands admit. If you have that number from the factory, it is a row. If you do not, do not invent it.
Body vs garment, stretch, fit intent
AI Frame requires What do these measurements describe? Body or Garment.
-
Body: the shopper’s bust / waist / hip (and underbust if you have it). Shoppers compare themselves to the row.
-
Garment: the suit measured flat or around. Then you must say measured flat or around, how the garment is meant to fit, and stretch 0–20%. Swim nylon-elastane is not a rigid shirt. A 10% stretch on a “snug” brief is a different size than 0% on a “second-skin” competition suit.
Two fields per chart, not five knobs per cell. If the brief is meant to sit high and firm, say snug. If the triangle top is meant to tie to taste, say that in how-to-measure, and still give a bust range so the triangle is not 8 cm of fabric on a 100 cm bust.

How to measure: bust at fullest, standing; underbust snug; waist at narrowest; hip at fullest. cm first. Inches on the toggle. First unit from location.
Men’s swim: waist, and inseam or outseam if you sell length. Same body-vs-garment rule.
Estimate my size, with a limit
On Starter+, Estimate my size uses height, weight, gender (age optional) to estimate chest, waist, hip from declared numbers — ANSUR II regressions, never from a photo. That can point at a one-piece or brief row.
It will not pick a cup. Chest circumference is not a cup. If you sell cup/band, the chart is the product; the estimator is a hip/waist hint, not a 32C. Tell the shopper that in the how-to-measure.
Height and weight is the longer version.

Assignment and templates
AI Frame’s template grid includes swimwear. Use it, then replace our example centimetres with yours. Assign by tag (swimwear, bikini, one-piece) or collection so a rash vest does not inherit a triangle-top chart.
Import from photo if the brand sent a hangtag. Import from CSV if the factory graded. Store scan copies live HTML as drafts. Five steps.
Returns, hygiene, and honesty
Holiday and summer peak will still return swimwear that “looked different.” You cannot close look with our try-on in this category. You can close fit with a chart. Zalando’s public figure: items with size advice had 10% fewer size-related returns than similar items without it. That is their catalogue. It is still the reason to publish the table.
Hygiene policies (no return if worn in water) make the pre-purchase chart more important, not less. You are asking someone to be right the first time, on a garment they cannot try in a fitting room and cannot see on their own photo in our widget.
Do not fake a swim try-on with a third-party model and hope the classifier looks the other way. Put a real model photo in the gallery. Put Size Chart next to Size.

This week
- Publish one bikini chart and one one-piece chart. Body vs garment set.
- Confirm Try On is off on those products (it should never appear).
- Confirm Size Chart is on.
- If you sell cups, stop collapsing them into S/M/L on the same variant.
Install AI Frame. Free plan includes 10 published Size Charts. Swimwear does not spend try-ons it cannot render.
