Vos données de taille sont-elles prêtes pour les agents d'achat IA ?
Quick answer for: Shopify Catalog can send your products into ChatGPT, Google and Muse. It structures title, price, images, variants and availability. It does not send a Size Chart. An AI shopping agent can recommend a jumper in size M and still not know whether that M is a body waist or a garment laid flat. Fashion merchants who want agents to shop them honestly need centimetres on the product page, in a table an agent can read, not only in a PNG.
On 6 October 2026 Shopify published Welcome to the first holiday season of the agentic era. It is the first holiday, they wrote, that agentic shopping goes mainstream: a shopper can ask an agent to find a product, compare it, and buy it without leaving the conversation. Shopify Catalog structures product data so agents can read it. Agentic Storefronts put those products in AI channels: ChatGPT, Google, and Muse.
The piece names Stanley 1913, Cottonique, Aviator Nation, Material Kitchen. It talks about legibility, indie brands, value. It does not mention size.
For clothing, that is the hole.

What Shopify actually launched
Shopify Catalog is the structured layer. Shopify’s own explainer (How agentic commerce works) says Catalog standardises products, keeps price and inventory current, and syndicates to connected AI platforms.
Agentic Storefronts is the sales channel. Eligible products go to AI surfaces with no extra app. Merchants manage channels in admin under Agentic / Agentic Storefronts. Shopify says there are no extra transaction fees beyond standard processing.
What an agent typically gets: title, description, images, price, availability, options (including a Size variant: S, M, L, 32, EU 40). What it does not get: whether M is a 88 cm body waist or a 48 cm flat garment half-width; fit intent; stretch; a how-to-measure.
On 1 October ChatGPT added Try On on clothing listings. OpenAI says those images do not guarantee fit or size. We wrote that here: ChatGPT added try-on. Shoppers still don’t know their size. Agentic discovery made look easier. It did not ship centimetres.
Checkout in the browser, still not a tape
Shopify’s developer changelog on 28 September 2026 added WebMCP support for checkout. Browser agents can read and update the checkout in the shopper’s tab (get_checkout, update_checkout, complete_checkout after the buyer confirms). TechCrunch covered it the same day. No merchant switch to flick.
So an agent can now help find a pair of jeans and complete checkout. It still cannot know that your “32” is a 81 cm garment waist measured flat and doubled, unless that fact lives in data the agent can parse.
Shopify’s holiday report (quoted in the 6 October piece): 65% of shoppers say they will use AI for at least one shopping task this season. Only about one-third trusted an agent to buy on their behalf. The rest still land on your product page. That page has to close look and fit.
Why “Shopify agentic storefronts” is a size article
The phrase is being searched (about 210 US searches a month when we checked; it was over 500 in May 2026). Merchants who type it want: do I turn it on, what does Catalog send, will ChatGPT sell my stuff.
Fashion merchants should add a fourth question: if an agent has to pick a size, what number does it have?
A Size option of S/M/L is a label. A Size Chart is evidence. An agent that only sees the label will guess, skip you, or send the shopper to a store that published centimetres.
What “size-ready” means, in order
-
A published Size Chart on the product, as a table next to Size, not a photo in the description. Images of tables are what humans pinch-zoom. Agents read HTML and structured fields. Add a Size Chart in five steps.
-
Body vs garment, labelled. Mixing them is how 81 cm becomes an argument. AI Frame requires this field. Agents need it too.
-
Variant values that match the chart rows. If the picker says
Mand the table saysMedium, you have two products.
-
Fit intent and stretch on garment charts. Oversized and rigid denim are not the same M. See plus-size and oversized and jeans.
-
Size Chart independently reachable. Most shoppers never start a try-on. Neither does most of an agent’s path. Do not hide the table inside Virtual Try-On.
-
On the page they buy: Try On on the photo; Estimate my size from height and weight. Catalog will not run your recommender inside ChatGPT. Your product page still can.
What we will not claim
Shopify’s up to 94% better conversion for shoppers who can visualize products (3D Ecommerce + changelog, 11 May 2022) is visualization as a category, on the page they buy — not a promise about AI Frame, and not a Catalog ranking boost.
We do not know whether ChatGPT, Google or Muse will ingest a merchant Size Chart this holiday. Shopify’s public holiday piece does not say they will. Until they do, the work is: make the table true, public, and next to Size, so whoever lands — human or agent-then-human — can use it.
This week
- Open Sales channels → Agentic and confirm which AI channels are on.
- Open five products that actually sell. Confirm Size Chart sits next to Size, in centimetres, body or garment labelled.
- Confirm variant spellings match the table.
- Turn on Try On where the category is allowed (not swimwear). Keep the chart visible without a photo.
When I ran Heritage Fashion, we wrote beautiful product stories. Machines could not wear them. Agents are the same: they can only repeat the case you already made. Size is part of that case. Shopify made the products findable. The centimetres are still yours.
Install AI Frame. Free plan publishes Size Charts and Try On on a real product.
Questions, answered
Does Shopify Catalog include Size Charts?
Shopify documents Catalog as product data agents can read: titles, descriptions, images, options, price, availability. A Size Chart is merchant content on the product page. Treat it as not in the feed until Shopify says otherwise.
Will ChatGPT know my customer’s size?
No. ChatGPT Try On does not guarantee fit. Instant Checkout in ChatGPT was stepped back in March 2026. Discovery can happen in chat. Size still has to be answered on your store.
Do I need an extra app for Agentic Storefronts?
No. Shopify says eligible merchants get it in admin. A Size Chart app is for the fit question Catalog does not answer.
What should I put in the product description for agents?
Plain text: who it is for, fibre, and a sentence that the Size Chart is body or garment, in cm. Do not rely on a screenshot of a table.
